If you’ve been feeling stuck, discouraged, or like you keep repeating the same patterns, you’re not alone. Sometimes that “cloud” you’re trying to escape is actually where God is meeting you and doing something deeper in your heart. Sometimes what feels like distance is really invitation.

In this episode of Wellness God’s Way, we explore what it means when life feels heavy, confusing, or spiritually “stuck”—what we often describe as a “cloud” over our lives.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering why you keep repeating the same habits, struggling with motivation, or feeling distant from God in your health journey, this episode will help reframe that experience in a powerful way. Instead of seeing the cloud as a sign of failure or absence, we begin to explore the possibility that it may actually be a place of God’s presence—where He is shaping, refining, and deepening our relationship with Him.
Through Scripture, reflection, and the story of Jacob wrestling with God, we look at how transformation often happens not in escape, but in staying with God through the struggle. This episode also gently unpacks self-sabotage patterns and how they often point to deeper heart needs that only Jesus can truly meet.
💛 What You'll Learn in this Episode:
Why feeling “stuck” spiritually or in your health journey may not mean something is wrong—but something deeper is happening
How Scripture reveals that God often works in the cloud, not just outside of it
What the story of Jacob wrestling with God teaches us about staying in difficult seasons instead of escaping them
Why self-sabotage is often rooted in unmet emotional or spiritual needs rather than simple lack of discipline
How to recognize when you are trying to escape discomfort instead of inviting God into it
A practical way to reframe discouragement as a space for transformation rather than condemnation
Why the ultimate goal of every struggle is not behavior change—but deeper relationship with Jesus
🌿 When Life Feels Like There's a Cloud Hanging Over You
There are seasons in life that are difficult to explain. Nothing feels completely “wrong,” but something is off. Motivation is harder to find, old patterns seem to resurface, and discouragement lingers longer than you expect. Spiritually, it can feel like you are trying to move forward, but everything feels heavy and unclear at the same time.
In those moments, it’s common to assume something must be wrong with us or wrong with our relationship with God. We start looking for explanations, fixes, or solutions so we can find our way back to clarity. But Scripture often frames these experiences differently than we do.
Throughout the Bible, God is repeatedly revealed in the cloud. He leads His people in a cloud through the wilderness, speaks from a cloud on the mountain, and fills the tabernacle with a cloud of His presence. Even moments of divine encounter are often surrounded by mystery rather than full understanding. The cloud is not presented as absence, but as presence—just not always the kind we know how to interpret.
This challenges the way we instinctively respond to discomfort. Our first reaction is often to escape it as quickly as possible, to fix what feels wrong, numb what feels heavy, or regain control so we can return to what feels familiar. But what if the goal isn’t to rush out of these moments, but to notice what God might be doing within them?
Sometimes the cloud slows us down enough to see what we’ve been avoiding. Sometimes it reveals where we’ve been relying on coping mechanisms instead of trust. And sometimes, it becomes the very space where God gently reshapes what we believe about Him, about ourselves, and about what it means to walk with Him.
This does not minimize the struggle or ask us to pretend everything is fine. Instead, it invites a different question altogether. Rather than asking how quickly we can escape the cloud, we begin to ask what God might be forming in us while we are here.
Because the cloud may not be a disruption to your journey with God. It may be the very place where He is drawing you closer than you realized.
