Food has become complicated. With endless diets, conflicting advice, and ever-changing nutrition trends, it can be difficult to know what choices truly support our health. In this episode, we’re going back to the foundation—understanding the way God designed our bodies and how the food He created can help us nourish them well.
Welcome to Episode 021 of Wellness God’s Way. When it comes to nutrition, it can feel like there is always a new rule to follow, a new diet to try, or a new opinion telling us what we should and shouldn’t eat. But what if we started somewhere different? In this episode, we’re looking at food through the lens of God’s design. We’ll explore the three macronutrients—protein, carbohydrates, and fat—and discuss how understanding the role each one plays can help us make wiser choices without fear, guilt, or chasing every nutrition trend. God created our bodies with incredible intentionality, and science continues to help us understand the wisdom already present in that design. When we learn how our bodies work, we become better equipped to care for them well.
This isn’t about finding another set of rules or the “perfect” way to eat. It’s about becoming more aware, more intentional, and more grateful for the bioindividual body God has entrusted to us.

🌿 God’s Design for Food: Making Wise Nutritional Choices
Food has become incredibly complicated. With endless diets, conflicting nutrition advice, and new trends appearing all the time, it can be difficult to know what choices truly support our health. But what if we started somewhere different? Instead of beginning with rules, restrictions, or the latest trend, what if we started with understanding?
As Christians, we believe that God created our bodies intentionally. The human body is not an accident—it is an incredible example of design, complexity, and purpose. Learning how our bodies work is not separate from faith. In fact, it can be an act of stewardship as we seek to care for the body God has entrusted to us.
Science does not replace God’s design. It helps us better understand the design that was already there.
From the beginning, food was part of God’s provision for humanity. In Genesis 1:29, God tells us that He gave plants and trees for food. That reminds us that food was not created to be something we fear, but something that can nourish and support the bodies He created.
Of course, we also have to acknowledge that we live in a very different world than people did thousands of years ago. Our food supply has changed, our environment has changed, and we are exposed to things today that previous generations never had to consider. But the encouraging truth is that God’s design has not changed. The foods He created are still the foods that best support the bodies He created.
One of the ways we can better understand nutrition is by learning about macronutrients—the nutrients our bodies need in larger amounts. Protein, carbohydrates, and fat each play an important role in helping our bodies function well.
Protein supports the maintenance of muscle, helps us feel satisfied after meals, and provides the building blocks our bodies use for many important processes. Carbohydrates are not something we need to fear. Many of the foods God created, including fruits, vegetables, beans, and other plants, naturally contain carbohydrates along with valuable nutrients our bodies need. The question is not whether carbohydrates are good or bad, but where those carbohydrates are coming from.
Fat is another important part of God’s design. While it has often been misunderstood, our bodies need healthy sources of fat to support normal functions and create balanced, satisfying meals. Foods like olive oil, avocados, nuts, and seeds are examples of nourishing sources of fat.
Understanding nutrition is not about finding another set of rules to follow or chasing the latest health trend. It is about becoming more aware of the incredible way God created our bioindividual bodies and learning how to care for them with wisdom and gratitude.
God’s design is good, and understanding His design helps us make wiser choices without living in fear or chasing every nutrition trend.
