Welcome to Episode 022 of Wellness God’s Way. In this episode, Kathy explains the difference between macronutrients and micronutrients, why "micro" doesn't mean "less important," and how vitamins and minerals work behind the scenes to support energy production, immune function, hormone balance, bone health, and countless other processes. She also discusses the difference between nutrient insufficiency, deficiency, and toxicity, introduces the two categories of vitamins and the three classifications of minerals, and explains the body's remarkable ability to maintain homeostasis.

🌿 Why Variety Matters More than Perfection
One of the biggest misconceptions about healthy eating is that there is one "perfect" food or one "perfect" diet. The truth is, God created an incredible variety of foods because our bodies require an incredible variety of nutrients.
A strawberry provides different vitamins and antioxidants than spinach. Spinach offers nutrients that you'll find in much smaller amounts in sweet potatoes. Nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and quality proteins each contribute something unique to the overall picture of health.
This is one reason nutrition is so much more than counting calories. Two meals may contain the same number of calories while providing vastly different amounts of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other beneficial compounds. Choosing foods that are rich in nutrients helps support the many biological processes taking place inside your body every day.
Rather than asking, "Is this food good or bad?" consider asking, "What nourishment does this food provide?" That simple shift encourages a mindset of gratitude instead of restriction and reminds us that food is one of God's good gifts.
Scripture tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17). As we enjoy the abundance and variety of God's creation, we have an opportunity to thank Him not only for satisfying our hunger but also for providing the nutrients our bodies need to thrive.
Healthy eating doesn't require perfection. It simply begins with faithfully choosing a variety of nourishing foods more often than not and trusting that those small, consistent choices add up over time.
