We often think productivity comes from doing more, but God’s design includes something we often overlook: rest. Rest is not laziness or wasted time. It is an intentional part of whole-person wellness that allows us to reconnect with God, listen for His direction, and trust that His work continues even when we stop.
Rest is more than a break from our responsibilities. It is part of God’s design for whole-person wellness. From the very beginning of creation, God established a rhythm of work and rest, showing us that rest is not a sign of weakness or a lack of productivity. Rest creates space for relationship with Him, helps us discern what He has called us to carry, and reminds us that our identity is found in God—not in what we accomplish. Rest is an act of trust, obedience, and intention.
🌿 Why This Matters
Many of us struggle with rest because we view it as something we have to earn. We feel guilty when we slow down, or we convince ourselves that everything depends on us continuing to push forward. But rest is not laziness, and it is not the opposite of productivity. God created us with rhythms of work and rest that support our health, our clarity, and our ability to faithfully live out the responsibilities He has given us. More importantly, rest creates space for something we desperately need: time with God. When we slow down and spend time with Him, we are better able to recognize what He has called us to carry and what we may have picked up on our own. Rest gives us the opportunity to listen, realign, and remember that God is still working even when we are not.
