🌿 Freedom Isn't Free - But it IS Yours!
Freedom is something we all desire. We celebrate it, we fight for it, and we long to experience it. But what does true freedom actually mean?
As we celebrate America’s semiquincentennial, we are reminded that freedom is never free. The men and women who fought for our nation’s independence made incredible sacrifices because they believed they were made for something more. They weren’t simply fighting against oppression—they were fighting for a vision, a future, and a purpose they believed was worth pursuing.
That same truth applies to the freedom we have through Christ.
In John 8, Jesus tells us, “The truth will set you free,” and then He says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” The freedom Christ offers is not simply freedom from rules or responsibility. It is freedom from the things that were never meant to control us.
Too often, we can be set free and still fail to live like we are free. Fear, comfort, convenience, unhealthy habits, and the opinions of others can quietly become things that rule our lives. But freedom is not about doing whatever we want—it is about no longer being mastered by the things that pull us away from who God created us to be.
This applies to our health as well. Caring for our bodies is not about perfection or earning God’s love. It is about stewardship. When we make intentional choices to care for ourselves, we create more capacity to serve, love, and pursue the purpose God has placed on our lives.
The world often tells us that discipline limits our freedom, but the opposite is true. Discipline actually purchases freedom. It gives us the strength to say no to the things that hold us back so we can say yes to the things that matter most.
Christ has already won our freedom. The question is whether we are willing to walk in it.
We were not created simply to survive. We were created for more.
Your freedom was won. Now it’s time to live free.
